An exhibition featuring 16 contemporary Detroit artists brings the Detroit art scene to West Michigan. Their work demonstrates the strength and vitality of the Detroit art community.

"Visions: 16 Detroit Artists" at the Muskegon Museum of Art will highlight media inspired by the Detroit art community. Gil Ashby, Peter Bernal, Judy Bowman, Bakpak Durden, Laura Gibson, Henry Heading, Michael Horner, Sydney James, Richard Lewis, Nivek Monet, Carole Morriseau, Vernard Rubens, Ackeem Salmon, Richard Wilson and Shirley Woodson are the exhibiting artists.

"Visions: 16 Detroit Artists" is curated by award-winning Detroit mural artist Hubert Massey, Hon. DFA. Massey is known for his public paintings, which can be viewed all across Michigan, particularly Detroit in Mexicantown, Greektown, Huntington Place, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Detroit Athletic Club. In downtown Muskegon, his work can be found at the VanDyk Mortgage Conference Center.
